You should check out Sudoku Learning Center (http://www.sudokulearningcent er.com). It has some great online tutorials on the various techniques to solve sudoku puzzles along with specially prepared puzzles that allow you to focus on the technique being taught.

There is this one puzzle that I have been trying to solve, but can't solve it for crap. It's so insanely hard, even when it seems like you have it right, then you realize at the last minute that you messed up something. It's stressing me out.. I wish I could post it, but I'm not sure how. And don't let the fact that a lot of the numbers are there fool you. I figured it would be easy because of that, but it's not. I will try to figure a way to put it on here.
In other news, my favorite game is Kakuro. It is like Sudoku, except, not only can the numbers not repeat themselves, but they also have to add up to the small numbers in the corners of all the rows and columns. I find that one easier than sudoku, and they don't even start you off with numbers at all.

there are lot of puzzles that you can't solve with these 7 techniques. try evil puzzles from http://www.sudoku-solver.net/ . I bet you won't be able to solve many of them with these 7 techniques alone.

RE: not true

The classic axiom for a true sudoku puzzle is one that has a unique solution. Given that there is only one solution for a true sudoku puzzle, following the seven techniques correctly and applying the logic in a skilled manner is guaranteed to produce the solution. A possible explanation for why these "evil" puzzles from the site you provided are not solvable (if indeed they are not) with the seven techniques, is perhaps these puzzles are not true sudoku, meaning, they do not have a unique solution in the first place. Maybe there are not enough hints provided, or not enough critical hints provided. While such puzzles may be brain jungle gyms for the sudoku maniacs who can solve all unique puzzles in their sleep...the seven techniques listed in this thread are guaranteed to work for true unique sudoku puzzles.

Each day the puzzles get progressively more difficult, with the Level E - Tragic Trizms coming out on Fridays. The application requires javascript be enabled, and should work with most modern standards-compliant browsers.

Thanks for the feedback- I have definitely been having difficulty getting the instructions right, but I thought my last set would do the trick. I would be very grateful if you could give me some specifics as to what lost you - was it the crossbar concept, or the sides? Something else? Did you try one of the 4X puzzles first? Any feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated - I will send you a copy of my book if you give me the opportunity to work with you and teach you the puzzle. I am working on a flash animation version of the instructions that should be ready in the next couple of weeks, that may be helpful also. You can e-mail me directly at andrewblakeslee@trizmpuzzle.com or give me a call at 1-877-874-9648 x5000.
